Founded by the Associazione Musica Libera and under the artistic direction of pianist Clara Schembari, Il Lago Cromatico is now one of the most evocative cultural events on Lake Maggiore. The 2025 edition is dedicated to the theme of Time, offering audiences an opportunity to rediscover the value of listening, beauty and reflection in an increasingly fast-paced world.
The festival will take place in numerous towns — Angera, Arona, Brebbia, Laveno Mombello, Leggiuno (Eremo di Santa Caterina), Ranco, Somma Lombardo, Taino, Travedona Monate — and will feature a packed calendar of events: concerts ranging from classical music to jazz with ethnic influences, exhibitions, guided tours, nature walks, sunrise performances, science talks and food and wine experiences. A true multisensory journey inspired by the region’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
The programme includes 16 concerts, with performances by acclaimed artists such as guitarist Giulio Tampalini, the Fine Arts Quartet, violinist Yulia Berinskaya, guitarists Giangiacomo Rosso and Naomi Berril (cello), pianist Ilaria Loatelli, the Quartetto Sincronie, the Orchestra Canova and many others.
Among the most anticipated events are two evenings dedicated to the keyboard concertos of J.S. Bach, and a special concert marking the centenary of quantum mechanics. The festival will also feature a talk with renowned aerospace engineer Amalia Ercoli Finzi, in collaboration with the Schiaparelli Observatory of Varese, exploring the concept of time in astronomy.
Il Lago Cromatico continues to be a festival that brings together music, science, nature and art, offering audiences an opportunity for discovery and reflection. The full programme is available on the official website: illagocromatico.com.
