Founded in 2018 in the United States thanks to the generosity of Barbara Walsh Hostetter and her husband Amos, the Hotchkiss Philharmonic Orchestra is a unique ensemble: it unites exceptionally talented students from the Hotchkiss School with internationally renowned professional musicians, offering an educational and artistic experience of the highest level. This year, for the first time, the orchestra is featured in an Italian tour through some of the country's most evocative cultural landmarks.
This initiative is made possible by the collaboration with Talent Music Master Courses in Brescia, which organized the events and ensured free access to all performances, with the goal of promoting the beauty of music to new generations and the wider public. The repertoire spans from Vivaldi to Paganini, Rossini to Schumann, and includes virtuosic works by Pasculli, Quantz, and Rachmaninov.
The tour opens on June 30 at 6:00 p.m. in the elegant Sale Apollinee of Teatro La Fenice in Venice, continuing on July 1 at the majestic Basilica of Sant'Anastasia in Verona, as part of the Undiscovered Music Festival 2025 preview. On July 3, the orchestra will perform at the Il Lago Cromatico Festival in the beautiful setting of the Castello Visconti di San Vito in Somma Lombardo. The grand finale will take place on July 5 in Brescia at the scenic Church of San Giovanni Evangelista, home of the Talent Music Master Courses.
With a vibrant program and a lineup that highlights the exchange between generations and cultures, the Hotchkiss Philharmonic Orchestra stands as a shining example of musical excellence and passion. A tour not to be missed, celebrating art and connection through music.
