Sixty years of music, over 7,000 concerts, and a legacy that has made Padua one of Italy’s symbolic cities for musical culture. This is the milestone that the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto is about to celebrate with its 60th Concert Season, taking place from 9 October 2025 to 7 May 2026, under the artistic and musical direction of Marco Angius.
The programme includes 14 concerts (one not included in the subscription) featuring internationally acclaimed soloists: among them, Silvia Careddu and Ilya Gringolts as artists-in-residence; pianists Fazil Say, Arsenii Moon, Anna Kravtchenko, Maya Oganyan, and Maurizio Baglini; violinists Giovanni Andrea Zanon and Fabio Biondi (appearing for the first time as conductor with OPV). A season envisioned as a journey through symphonic masterpieces and new creations, between beloved classics and lesser-known gems.
The season opens with a tribute to Ravel, featuring Bolero alongside Petrushka by Stravinsky and Fontane di Roma by Respighi. Other highlights include Beethoven’s Fifth, Mendelssohn’s “Italian” Symphony, Liszt’s Dante Symphony, Tchaikovsky’s Fifth, and Handel’s Messiah in Mozart’s orchestration, performed at the Christmas concert in the Basilica del Santo.
The season is enriched by important collaborations, such as the one with Palazzetto Bru Zane in Venice to rediscover French Romantic repertoire, and the participation of the Orchestra I Pomeriggi Musicali from Milan, guests with a Strauss dynasty programme conducted by Alessandro Bonato.
Several world premieres are also scheduled: new works by Berislav Šipuš, Fabio Cifariello Ciardi, and the Italian premiere of Miske by Čiurlionis, in collaboration with the Lithuanian Embassy.
The subscription campaign opens on 10 September 2025, with priority renewals until 12 September and new subscriptions from 13 September at the OPV Ticket Office and online at Vivaticket.it. Concerts will take place at the Auditorium Pollini and Teatro Verdi, with general rehearsals open to the public.
