On Sunday, 18 January 2026, the fifteenth edition of the Filarmonica della Scala Open Rehearsals will open, marking a milestone that confirms the cultural and especially social value of a project that has become an integral part of the life of the city of Milan.
The inaugural preview, generally reserved by invitation for the third-sector audience, will be exceptionally open to the general public outside of subscription and entirely dedicated to the Giulia Cecchettin Foundation, supporting educational projects on emotional awareness in schools in response to the urgent issue of gender-based violence. In agreement with the Municipality of Milan, a portion of the tickets will still be reserved for segments of the population with limited access to cultural opportunities, as well as for the beneficiary organisations of this edition. On the podium will be Riccardo Chailly, with Alexandre Kantorow at the piano, for a programme featuring Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C major, Op. 26 and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36.
The remaining four open rehearsals included in the carnet, scheduled from 22 February to 25 October 2026, will be dedicated to supporting organisations working in the Milan area to combat educational poverty.
The series begins on Sunday, 22 February with an evening in support of Gruppi di Volontariato Vincenziano – GVV Milano, conducted by Fabio Luisi with Janine Jansen on violin. It continues on Sunday, 29 March with an event dedicated to Associazione Akanà ETS and Associazione Comunità Oklahoma Onlus, featuring Myung-Whun Chung on the podium with Leif Ove Andsnes at the piano. On Sunday, 12 April, the Orchestra conducted by Michele Mariotti will support the Cooperativa Martinengo. The cycle concludes with the rehearsal on Sunday, 25 October in favour of Fondazione Carolina, Associazione Cuore e Parole Onlus and Cooperativa Sociale Pepita ETS, conducted by Gustavo Gimeno with Jörgen van Rijen on trombone. Each event is preceded by an introduction and listening guide with the concert’s featured artists.
