Venice Classic BLOG

In the Venice of the early eighteenth century, where music permeated every street and the Ospedale della Pietà shaped generations of exceptionally trained young musicians, comes to life 'Primavera', the new film by acclaimed opera and theatre director Damiano Michieletto. Inspired by the Strega Prize-winning novel Stabat Mater by Tiziano Scarpa, the film is a powerful and visually arresting portrait of a young woman navigating talent, identity, and freedom. 'Primavera' will be released internationally after already securing distribution in more than twenty-five countries.

In the baroque splendour of the Palácio Nacional de Mafra, one of the most fascinating monumental complexes in Portugal, VCR Classica+ presents the concert dedicated to the Stabat Mater and Salve Regina by Domenico Scarlatti and José de Nebra, recorded on 8 October 2025 with the ensemble La Grande Chapelle conducted by Albert Recasens.

On 8 October 2025, the Palácio Nacional de Mafra will host a concert dedicated to the Stabat Mater by Domenico Scarlatti and José de Nebra, a repertoire that allows us to rediscover sacred music from the Bourbon era and the cultural ties between Spain, Italy and Portugal. Performed by La Grande Chapelle conducted by Albert Recasens, the event is part of the Via Scarlatti project promoted by CEEH and CEM, Centre Européen de Musique, with media partnership by VCR.

In 2025, the association Barocco Europeo celebrates its first 25 years of activity with the new edition of the Festival toBE 2025, an articulated programme of concerts, special projects and educational initiatives spanning Friuli Venezia Giulia, eastern Veneto and Slovenia. A journey into early music which, from August to December, weaves together research, memory and a forward-looking perspective along an ideal Danubian axis.

From 24 June to 29 August 2025, VCR Venice Classic Radio will present a special series dedicated to the 2024 Season of the Musica Mirabilis Festival in Clusone, Bergamo (Italy). The concerts, recorded in the historic churches of San Defendente and Beata Vergine del Paradiso, will be broadcast on VCR Classica+ as part of the Estival programme, and released in video format the following day.
